Linda Edna Cardellini's parents are businessmen Wayne David Cardellini and Lorraine (Hernan). They were born at Redwood City in California. She has Italian origins (her paternal great-grandpa), Irish, German, English and Scottish (her mother). Linda was born in San Francisco Bay and grew to be the youngest of four children. She was trained in acting in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and made her debut on the British television series Just William (2010). Cinderella was her breakthrough performance following her appearance playing Lady Rose MacClare, in Downton Abbey's period drama (2012-2015). James later played the role of the Countess Natasha Rostova as part of the television adaption of War & Peace (2016). James also appeared in a number films like Baby Driver (2017) and The Dig -2021. and Here We Go Again (2018) and Yesterday (2019). Pam & Tommy, a biographical television series based on the life of Pamela Anderson (released in 2022) was nominated for Golden Globe Award winner and an Primetime Emmy Award.
